Sometimes you just have to notice the little things. One of the little things we noticed recently was that the official Earth2.io twitter account (@earth2io) added a third follower. For the longest time, they have been following founder Shane Isaac (@theshaneisaac) and Mapbox executive Eric Gunderson (@ericg). It's probably not a coincidence that the two people Shane Isaac follows are @earth2io and @ericg.
The new person they are now following?
None other than the sometimes controversial Keemstar (@KEEMSTAR), a social media influencer with 2.8 million Twitter followers. Keemstar, whose real name is Daniel Keem, is best known for being the host of the pop culture news show DramaAlert which appears on YouTube and has a staggering 5.8 million subscribers.
In recent developer chats, it has been hinted at that Earth2 had some influencers they could utilize to promote Earth2, but that they were waiting until they felt the site was ready for the rush. Is Keem one of those influencers? He follows Earth2 and he had this tweet way back when:
So there is definitely some type of connection. Shortly after that, the Earth2 twitter account followed Keem (apparently so Keem could DM them) but then unfollowed him (sometime back in January). So it's interesting to note that they have now followed him. Again. Does this mean they are talking potential promotion? Speculation is sure to ensue, but we wanted to bring this interesting tidbit to everyone's attention.
